A: Where are you from?
B: I am from Mexico (I am from + country)
Conversation B
A: Where are you from?
B: I am Mexican (I am + nationality)
As you see, when you ask for a person’s nationality we ask: Where are YOU from?
Now, look at this example:
Where is he from?
He is from France (He is from + country)
Where is he from?
He is French (He is + nationality)
We ask: “Where is he from?” when we ask about a MAN
Now, look at this example about this woman:
Where is she from?
She is from Italy (she is from + country)
Where is she from?
She is Italian (She is + nationality)
When we ask in PLURAL we say:
A: Where are they from?
B: They are from Japan (They are from + country)
A: Where are they from?
B: They are Japanese (They are + nationality)
We always write the first letter of any country or nationality with CAPITAL LETTER.
