Earth day

Earth day

What is Earth Day?

People of Canada celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd every year. During this day and the weeks that follow, people do different activities to celebrate the environment, such as learning about the environmental issues each city has, or simpler things such as picking up trash from the streets.

For me this year won’t be the exception. I think I will take part in different activities. I haven’t thought about it in advance, but I’m sure I will organize some activities that I believe will be a great deal of help. Check the activities I have in mind:

Clean-up day

I will probably meet you all at Grafton Avenue Park. When? Don’t know yet, but I will let you know in advance. What will we do? I think we will collect trash from the park and the surrounding areas. From my point of view recycling is the best way to reduce pollution, so we will also put bottles, papers and cans into recycling containers. I’m excited about the amount of trash we can collect and recycle.

Embrace home vegetable gardens

Then, I’m sure that Miriam Charconnet will agree to give us a talk about the benefits of a home vegetable garden and guide us step by step on how to grow vegetables in our own garden, including roof gardens, too. If we grew our own vegetables I’m sure we will see a lot of changes in our health in a few weeks.

Plant trees

I believe that planting trees is a great idea, not only to improve the landscape of our neighborhood, but it will also help us reduce pollution and summer heat and, at the same time, improve our health.

Enjoy the outdoor without polluting

This is the simplest thing we can do. The idea is to enjoy life without polluting the environment. I think that if we take our garbage back home and take care of the flora and fauna of the place, we will reduce pollution and we will also contribute to the conservation of the local species.

These are only some ideas. Tell me about yours. Leave a comment! I promise I will answer you all.
